Notice: in English sorry - I can't write in the German language. If someone
could translate I'd be grateful :-).
CAcert has moved from using mailman to sympa as a mail list manger.
The reason for this was the centralised nature of managing the list was
making
it hard to manage and there was no search functionality.
Access to the website will be at a slightly different URL
https://lists.cacert.org/wws though going to the top level will get you
redirected to the right location.
Some of you who have client side certificates in your web browser would of
notices you don't need a password to access the above URL. We hope you like
this use of certificates.
The list email addresses are still the same. Your password is the same as
what
it was before though it is a global password for all the lists now. Any
troubles just use the password reset facility.
Your personal setting, like digest subscription, have also been migrated to
the extent they are supported. If something went wrong I apologize.
The archives have been ported so there is a searchable archives. At some
point
in the near future a lot of these will be on public archive hosting services.
If you want to help out you can nominate yourself as a list moderator by
contacting your list owners. A moderator is a small control to make sure that
posts by non-subscribers are related to the topic.
You may also notice that there is no longer a subject line identifier. This
was
removed to be compatible with DKIM, a strong digital signature authentication
protocol for validating email. By changing the email content, and breaking
the
signature, as they passed though the mail list we make it impossible for the
receiver to validate the authenticity of the email. As such I have removed
this feature. If you were filtering on this before you are recommended to
change your filter to use the 'list-id' email header.
There was a small bug in the migration of names that have non [a-z]
characters. When they show up as hex escaped please edit them in your
personal
preferences menu.
I hope you enjoy this new service.
