Hi all,
I've posted a new version that contains a few bug fixes and
modifications to accommodate the change to https for the root and
class 3 certificates, as well as increasing the error messaging to
more accurately depict what is wrong should something fail. I was also
able to get the install function for Windows 10 to work correctly in
an Administrator PowerShell terminal window.
The download can be found at:
https://tecreations.ca/java/downloads/release/signed-cacert.jar
I have also done a fair bit of testing to ensure it works as expected
and have successfully tested the Export function to ensure that Apache
2 will work with the private/public key produced by the program. I
assume you know how to install and setup for Apache so I won't cover
that.
To run, simply download and on Windows a double click will run the
Launcher. It does produce output, however to get it to do that, you
must run from the command prompt using:
java -jar signed-cacert.jar
from the directory you downloaded to, usually the Downloads folder.
Also note that you must now manually download the root and class 3
certificates, but it's better this way as it is now protected by
https, so there should be no security concerns there anymore.
As always, if you have trouble getting it to work, just email me at
tim.devries AT yahoo.ca
and I'll be happy to help you get it working or
fix it if it's broken.
Please note that is the same email address which should appear when
you verify the contents of the jar file using:
jarsigner -verify -certs signed-cacert.jar
**You need the JDK (Java Development Kit) installed to obtain the
jarsigner utility.
Thanks for your time.
Tim
