You asked:
Audit Question: do we care if CAcert "Assurer" mugs and
t-shirts are widely distributed? In my kitchen I have all sorts of mugs, and
in my cupboard all sorts of t-shirts.
Normally I give them away or borrow/beg/steal them from
others.
But if something purports to be "CAcert Assurer" grade and
that might help me pretend to be a CAcert Assurer, does that
raise a security question?

If I would wear a shirt with "Police" printed on it, would you really believe
i was working for the police?
I would say wearing a t-shirt with the logo is no proof that someone is an
assurer so I don't see a problem here.
But you can always add a disclaimer "Please ask for credentials before
getting assured" :-)

Yep. That's general branding, 101. If a brand is "not
protected" then you will lose it in your first court battle
with someone you try and stop. For details, ask a lawyer.
Short answer -- protect the brand.
Which means there should be a policy. Now, this policy
probably doesn't have to say "don't use..." and it may well
include elements of "sharing" such as has been seen in the
past. But it does have to impress a judge from the
standpoint of brand protection.

No reason to exclude or ignore them.

Help on reading the policy (existent or not!) would be more
likely :)
