This is the basic concept here too. In civil law it has to be done
exactly this way, since an advantage for one party is automatically a
disadvantage for the other party. But in criminal law mercy comes into
play. If a law is heavier in the meantime, the old lighter law rules.
But if a law is mitigated or lifted, the new law rules.
