Ah, I was under the impression that it was largely a technical process. (ie: user shows certificate to server, servers issues points to account) I hadn't looked into it.

With this knowledge I'd put emphasis on the option to keep TVerify alive.

Cédric, properly chastised I have to say the answer seems to be "YES, you can use that certificate with CAcert".
I'm sure Brian can give us more details upon request.

Joost,

Your answer to Cedric is certainly in the right direction.  If it is at all possible for him to meet with two or three Assurers, depending on his needs and wants, that is the best answer.  However, we have decided ( the Board has decided ) to allow the, admittedly somewhat broken, TVerify program to continue and provide Assurances for Thawte WoT members as long as that program exists, in other words, until November 16th.  That program provides a mechanism where Cedric would submit an application to the TVerify Assurers, and once four of them have voted, he would either have enough points for his assurance, or suggestions to correct his application and try again.  The points acquired in this manner would be valid for a period of one year, and should be replaced with Face-To-Face Assurances within that period.
