Slack is a non-free service (as in free speech). It has advantages but I
would prefer something that could be hosted by ourselves and is free
software. Zulip, Mattermost or Rocketchat might be alternatives but need
someone who takes care of them.

Somebody would need to rewrite our vote bot and probably adapt policy
documents to use something else than IRC.
