Some thoughts. Firstly, this is the sysadm group. Interesting but patches is software development so perhaps best discussed over on the cacert-devel list.

Do you have a test system or access to a test system? It is somewhat hard to get faith without a little testing. (Ask on the cacert-devel list about that if you need help.)

The process for getting a patch done involves getting it reviewed. This will take much longer than writing it. So be patient.

Lastly, might be easier if you post the patch :-)
