the same problem I had back in mid 2009 with a local
copy of a test-server image.
The apache and mysql didn't starts on reboot.

Alejandro found a problem in the runlevel environment.
MySQL was probably defined to run at runlevel 1
With runlevel 2 defined, MySQL came up and running

I've added Alejandro to the CC list, maybe he can remember
this fix  ?!?
I cannot find the file he had fixed ;&
