Oh really? In that case, it would be wise to explicitly specify the port
(3306) in order to defeat this.

The production server runs PHP 4.4, maybe test1 has PHP 5.x? In any case,
explicitly specifying the port number should elicit the same (desired)
behaviour on all systems I think.
