Hi,

Am 05.08.2010 00:04, schrieb
ulrich AT cacert.org:
Seeing a problem in following areas
   * Community.cacert.org

What is on this system other than Voting tool and Mail ?

and probably webmail ?!?

Luckily Dan has documented his work area quite well. So see http://wiki.cacert.org/SystemAdministration/Systems/Community

Hmmm... cautiously, I agree   *if* lots and lots of effort is directed
to finding new sysadms and bringing them in to help ;)

Yes, a new run for sysadmins is needed.
There are many systems which can be staffed up. Having at least three different admins for each system should be the target. Maybe we can have an dedicated admin who primarily does stuff, but have others who can help out to do emergency stuff and handle user requests in time. The primary admin should be a secondary admin for other systems and each admin should have at least one system as primary so he does not get too bored with being a CAcert sysadmin.

Not that I'm against help or anything, but I already know that Ulrich
has an Arbitration case load and a big responsibility for audit:
getting ATEs moving and co-audits humming...  Oh, and software.  Mustn't
forget software.  And, and, and...

Yes, I have to agree here.

I am about to volunteer for infrastructure also, but since I am lacking time for all my other tasks within CAcert, this would not get us forward. So the only advantage here would be to have a backup available in short term.

But what is with our infrastructure systems ?

One point we've discussed in the path was, that we need
an infrastructure team, right ?

There was a run for system administrators some time ago. Many new people were brought in, some are still left. We need another run for sysadmisn.

So, who picks up this task, to contact several people
to ask them for help in the infrastructure area ?
Since Daniels resignation, this task is moved back
to board. But board probably doesn't see the problem
that araises in this area within the next couple of months.

At least I am aware of the problem. But where to get new people? I am not a recruiter...

In the meanwhile I'm available as a backup for the community and lists ...

I wouldn't stand against it, but to load the people with the most tasks with even more goes into the wrong direction.

With the ATE's in mind for recruitments, I'll think, it helps to
see some live work with the systems, to see how time consuming
the admin work is, before nominate candidates to become
new infrastructure admins

From my pov, the usual workload is very limited. But since we also need some development it would be appreciated if the new people have some resources for this also.

So here we have a system with 2 admins running ... fine ...
what's with community, lists ?-)
or could you name me the backups for both systems ?-)

The intrastructure admins should be a backup in these cases. But they do not know much about the specific configuration. And there is also only one... And I don't know if PG has much resources available for this.
