Dear Nick,
Thanks for your contributions to the community so far.
I don't want to poke them down ...
my nomination is twofolded ...
first, to get a fallback for existing administrators
second, to reactivate old, known members, or not yet so active members ;)
From my sysadmin work on my job, there is essential, that there is
a 2nd engineer available under all circumstances, who can act as a
fallback.
With Daniels resign we're running into the problem, that we often
have only 1 sysadmin left for infrastructure machines.
To find a replacement will be very hard ... so finding new sysadmins
for each machine will be an easier job in the recruitment.
One side effect maybe a team building process, where some of the
new sysadmins for one machine can probably also become a fallback
of another machine ...
So let the non-critical sysadmins team increase, will hopefuly
solve our lack of resources problem in this area, i.e. for the
infrastructure move of non-critical systems out of the critical
system area
So adding an additional sysadmin onto a machine, doesn't mean
to remove the existing one, does not mean that the current sysadmin
doesn't do his job or on poor quality, it means, we take care about
the problem of a community, that not everybody can handle the
sysadmin job 24/7. and the overall lack of resources.
Everybody wants good services. But this can only be achieved
if we have a big team, big enough, to handle the worldwide timezones,
to handle the volunteer character of our jobs within the Community.
From my experience in building the Testserver team, I've got a mixed
group of 10 more active, less active testers. Mostly I can reach at least
2 or 3 currently active. So this is, what we can achieve also for
the infrastructure team: Working together in a team, and not
against each other ...

I'm fine with this as I have limited time currently. I'll still continue
to serve as an irc admin also.
