Hello,
to echo "Ulrich"...
long version :
I have recently had a nightmare with Windows XP 64bits installed on a 3
disks fakeRAID-0 array (in 2007) then Win7 installed (in 2009) on a
spare single HDD disk
Impossible to boot Win7 while removing the RAID 0 Array "considered" as
main system disk (Damned MS limitation on OS bootloaders). No way to fix
it with any of command line programs like replacing the MBR.
[...]
I ended buying BOOT IT BARE METAL (multiboot multi-OS multi disk)... to
move the "System" disk to the Win7 (HDD then SSD) disk. OK now.
=> Yet I could have played with grub but Win7 tests on licence
validation are tricky (example : a complete "dd"-ing of a disk checked
with md5 from one SSD to the same SSD model : Win7 says licence invalid,
no way to make it working after login... damned!)
short version =>
So just a temporary idea, can you put "dd" the first 446 bytes from the
main disk MBR (and copy GRUB bootloader) if you cannot remove the boot
order on the usb disk.
my 2 cents. Good day !
Kind regards,
Guillaume
