That's an idea, recently a french (or english hardware test site) tested
a Windows softRAID-0 of USB floppy disks (nutz guys), they tried up to 6
disks, but failed to reach 10 USB floppies in raid-0. The bandwidth
improvement was not good but latency was better.

More seriously, as temporary idea, would be to put the bootloader on a
bootable CD or USB floppy disk with grub (much like a legacy stuff). to
have spare time before you consider another sun or USB controlled power
as Wytze pointed out (a script to be written to start the USB disk) I
guess his idea is the wiser idea of all.
