I have a bet going with a friend of mine over the rationalisation of open sourcing... Apart from peer review can anyone bleating for code to be open sourced give me a factual benefit in doing so...

So far I've open sourced code on several other projects of mine and not only ended up having to deal with end user support that CAcert gets now, but developer support as well, in other words the amount of work went up supporting those projects not down, and had little or no return of code that was actually of any benefit...

But I'm just playing devils advocate here and assuming everyone isn't playing the open source card because it's the in thing to do, and that they've considered all angles of doing so...
